While volunteering in Spain, my Italian roommate, a fellow volunteer and a phenomenal chef, casually said, “We go dumpster diving.” I had no idea what she meant until she brought me along. Behind a grocery store, she lifted the lid of a bin, and there it was: perfectly good fruits and vegetables, tossed out simply because it was “that day” of the week. That night, she turned rescued food into a meal so delicious, it could’ve come from a five-star kitchen. That moment never left me. It shaped not just the idea for Flash Grüb, but the way I approach building it, listening, learning, and creating real impact every day.
